Airone R3 Ductless Fume Cabinet for Industry & Higher Education
The Airone R3 is a high-specification ductless fume cabinet designed for industrial laboratories, universities, research facilities and higher education environments.
Using replaceable activated carbon and/or HEPA filters, the R3 provides a practical alternative to a ducted fume cupboard where external ductwork, make-up air systems or building works are difficult, costly or unnecessary.
Need a ductless fume cabinet for an industrial, university or research laboratory?
Best suited for
The Airone R3 is best suited for industrial, university and research laboratory environments that need a high-specification ductless fume cabinet without external ductwork.
It is particularly suitable for:
- Industrial laboratories
- University laboratories
- Higher education facilities
- Research laboratories
- R&D environments
- Laboratories where external ductwork is difficult or costly
- Applications requiring carbon and/or HEPA filter technology
- Projects where heated indoor air should not be expelled outside
- Applications requiring bench-mounted, free-standing or walk-in options
- Applications where a polypropylene fume cabinet option may be required
Product overview
The Airone R3 is a high-specification ductless fume cabinet with laminated glass sides, incorporating replaceable activated carbon and/or HEPA filters to suit the application.
Build quality is of a high standard, with extruded aluminium aerofoils, a stainless steel sill and a counterweighted smooth-action laminated glass sash. The integrated Variable Air Volume system helps ensure the required inward airflow for operator protection remains constant at all working sash heights.
Because the Airone R3 does not require ducting or make-up air systems, installation can be more straightforward and less costly than a ducted unit. It is also energy efficient, as it does not expel heated indoor air to the outside.
The Airone R3 is available in a choice of sizes and can be bench mounted, free standing or supplied as a walk-in unit. A polypropylene option is also available for applications where an alternative construction material is required. Services and materials can be tailored to each customer’s individual needs.

Airone R3 vs ducted fume cupboards
The Airone R3 is a ductless fume cabinet, while ducted fume cupboards discharge extracted air outside through an external duct system. The right option depends on the application, substances used, building constraints, airflow requirements and project specification.
Simple comparison
| Airone R3 ductless fume cabinet | Ducted fume cupboard |
|---|---|
| Uses activated carbon and/or HEPA filters | Connects to ducting and discharges air outside |
| No external ductwork required | Requires external ductwork and discharge route |
| Can reduce installation complexity | More involved installation and building works |
| Does not expel heated indoor air outside | Extracted air is discharged externally |
| Requires filter selection, monitoring and replacement | No carbon or HEPA filter replacement required |
| Useful where ducting is difficult or costly | Useful where external discharge is required or preferred |
| Available as bench-mounted, free-standing or walk-in | Available in a range of ducted configurations |
| Polypropylene option available where required | Material options depend on the ducted model specified |
