Harrow’s £16.5m "Building for the Future" project involved the construction of a cutting-edge science block featuring 14 state-of-the-art laboratories. Safelab were responsible for supplying the fume cupboards and ducting, resulting in the largest school fume cupboard installation ever witnessed in the UK.
Project Scope & Collaboration
The project started taking shape in 2014, with Safelab collaborating closely with main contractors Neilcott Construction, architects Rivington Street Studio, and M&E consultants Buro Happold. The scope of work encompassed the installation of 29 fume cupboards, a combination of filtered and ducted units with widths ranging from 1200mm to 1800mm. This highly demanding project not only showcased Safelab's technical expertise but also highlighted our capability to execute complex projects within stringent timelines.
The successful completion of the Harrow School project further solidifies Safelab's position as the leading provider of fume cupboards to schools and colleges in the UK. In addition to the Harrow School project, Safelab has supplied fume cupboards to several other renowned independent schools. This includes installations of 28 units to Abingdon School in Oxfordshire and 23 units to Cranleigh School in Surrey.
