SafeFAST Elite Class II Microbiological Safety Cabinet

SafeFAST Elite Class II Microbiological Safety Cabinet

Conforming to the strictest of safety standards, SafeFAST Elite are Class II Microbiological Safety Cabinets designed and built to the performance requirements of European Standard EN-12469:2000. 70% of the air is re-circulated via the main Class H14 HEPA filter within the cabinet, whilst the remaining 30% is discharged through an exhaust Class H14 HEPA filter.

SafeFAST Elite cabinets have been adopted worldwide for product, personnel and environmental protection while handling harmful agents pathogenic to human beings and/or animals as defined in the appropriate international standards. They are used in a wide range of disciplines such as microbiology, virology, haematology, cell culture and genetics.

Ergonomic Design.  The angled, sloping front safety glass sash provides optimum visibility of all objects placed in the interior workspace. The sash is electrically operated. Pressing the appropriate touch sensitive keys will completely open or completely close the sash. The standard sash height opening during work is set to 250mm. The whole front of the safety cabinet, which includes the sash mechanism, can also be opened upwards as it is hinged on the top, enabling easy access for complete, effective cleaning and decontamination.

Inflatable Gasketing.  Available as an option to provide effective sealing of the internal workspace of the chamber for purposes of fumigation/sterilisation.

Silent Operation.  The textile plenum, the structures of the electric motors of the fans and the software are designed to provide optimum air handling characteristics, guaranteeing quiet operation of this safety cabinet.  Recorded sound pressure levels are significantly below the parameters specified in the current EN:12469 European Standard for Microbiological Safety Cabinets.

Protection grid.  Made of AISI 304 stainless steel, a protection grid is provided behind the rear panel (where air flows) in order to avoid decontamination costs which would otherwise be incurred should tissue be sucked into the motor, which can also cause the failure of the motor and/or of the anemometer.

High Level Lighting.  The safety glass side windows and the ideal positioning and sizing of the light system provide the highest level of luminosity to the work area.

Easy Handling and Maintenance.  The safety cabinet can pass through 800mm wide door openings. In fact, the overall depth of the cabinet can be reduced to approx. 790 mm by removal of the rear panel. All service operations are available from the front of the cabinet.

  • Rear wall in stainless steel AISI 304L: Designed to conform with the requirements and pass the “cleanability test” according to EN12469:2000.
  • AISI 316 work surface consisting of sections which are easily removed for carrying out routine cleaning and/or autoclaving sterilization procedures. These can be solid or perforated on request.
  • Recirculating and extractor fans: The ‘S’ Series SafeFAST Elite is supplied with a single centrifugal fan. The ‘D’ Series is supplied with a double centrifugal fan to provide complete operator, product and environmental protection.
  • Microprocessor based monitoring system: Full status report provided via digital display by new generation microprocessors, which automatically control all functions and all safety alarm systems to ensure that performance characteristics are maintained to EN12469:2000 requirements. A high power lithium battery keeps safety data saved to microprocessor system.
  • The user-friendly practical keyboard and the rear-lit LCD will continuously display all required data, keeping the user constantly informed of the cabinet conditions in operation, in particular:
    • laminar flow velocity and frontal air barrier velocity
    • inside and outside temperature
    • residual lifetime of HEPA filters, UV lamp and carbon filter (if fitted)
    • total number of hours of operation & level of saturation of HEPA filters
  • Audio-visual alarms provided for:
    • out-of-range or incorrect laminar airflow velocity and frontal air barrier velocity
    • incorrect position of front sash
    • saturation of HEPA filters
    • end of life cycle of UV lamp and saturation of activated carbon filter (if fitted)
